The Robert Bosch Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (RBC-DSAI) was founded in August 2017, in IIT Madras with a vision to expand and further the research, education and outreach activities in the areas of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

About Us

The Robert Bosch Centre for Data Science and AI (RBCDSAI) was set up in 2017 as an outcome of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Data Science (ILDS), with funding from the Institute to encourage interdisciplinary research. The Centre was started to expand AI adoption in engineering applications and leverage the available expertise on network systems modelling across various Institute departments. In the last 5 years, we have grown to be the pre-eminent interdisciplinary research centre for Data Science and AI in India. We now have one of the country's largest groups in network analytics and deep reinforcement learning. We also have one of the most active natural language processing and deep learning groups. We publish extensively in conferences and journals and have received numerous best paper recognitions.

We are making a significant impact in the country. Our faculty lead and participate in various task forces and committees constituted by the Indian Government to develop its AI policy in multiple sectors. Our faculty participate in numerous events organised by the WEF in India to help the government develop their AI policy. The Centre is the official data science and AI partner to the Ministry of Statistics and Plan Implementation. We have also been collaborating extensively with the industry. We participate in several AI-led initiatives by industry bodies such as NASSCOM, CII and pushing the envelope to adopt sound DS and AI technology in industrial applications. We have developed several long-lasting international collaborations with individual groups and institutions across different countries.
