Professor, Queen’s University Belfast

Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Epigenomics Genetics Transcription Factors

Prof. Vijay Tiwari has an internationally visible track record in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Gene regulation, Cancer Biology and Neurobiology and his research contributions are well-recognized for originality, relevance, and quality. He has published in leading journals such as Nature, Nature Genetics, Nature Cell Biology, Cancer Cell, Cell Stem Cell, Nature Communications, Genes & Development, EMBO J and Genome Research. He did his MSc in Molecular and Human Genetics at BHU followed by a PhD at Uppsala University in Sweden. Following training with Prof. Stephen Baylin (Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, USA) and Prof. Dirk Schübeler (Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research, Switzerland), his research excellence continued as an independent group leader at IMB in Germany and now as a Professor at Queen’s University (UK) and Southern University of Denmark (Denmark). His success is reflected by several high-quality publications, acquisition of grant funding, invitation to reputed meetings and several recognized awards including Wilhelm Sander Award, Bruno Speck Award, EU RISE1 Award and Faculty of the Year Award. He has organized several conferences and workshops for disseminating science and educating young researchers. He also routinely reviews for top journals and funding bodies from several countries and contributes as an Executive Board member of the Health Data Research UK-Turing Wellcome Program, Member of the Neuroscience Ireland Council, UKRI BBSRC Pool of Experts and European Association for Cancer Research.
