On going AI for Social Good projects at RBCDSAI

RBCDSAI collaborates with several governmental, non-governmental, health care institutions to work on many socially relevant projects. We work with The Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA) to establish the Integrated and Inclusive Public Grievance CM Helpline Management System. Another project uses data science and AI techniques to locate optimally and allocate emergency ambulances, and also aims to understand the cause of road traffic accidents. In collaboration with Dvara Trust, we develop algorithms for predicting low-income households’ financial distress to draw attention to their economic well-being. Work with NGOs and clinical research institutions to improve child and maternal health and preterm risk categorisation of pregnant women. To get more information on these and other socially relevant projects currently running at RBCDSAI click here.

Testimonials
Dr. Sundari Ramji, Post-Doctoral Fellow, RBCDSAI (July 1, 2019 – Oct 30, 2020), Currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus, Goa.

“My work involved developing a generic mathematical framework to seamlessly integrate the signalling and metabolic networks for any biological system. This integration helps identify novel and important cross-talk between the different networks and provide better insights to the biological processes. The Robert Bosch Centre provides excellent facilities for its students and the Centre is extremely active with people working across various interdisciplinary projects. It has been a great learning experience being a part of this group.”

Dr. Philge Philip, Post-Doctoral Fellow, RBCDSAI (from March 2018) and Alumnus, Umea University, Sweden (Ph.D. in Molecular Biology)

“Postdoctoral Fellowship at RBCDSAI provides a highly interdisciplinary work environment, with some of the leading faculty in Data Science and AI. We can choose a faculty mentor of mutual interest and start an exciting journey of research. I work in the healthcare vertical of RBCDSAI called Initiative for Biological Systems Engineering (IBSE). My research topic is different omics data analysis. At RBCDSAI we get the opportunity to attend regular workshops and colloquia by international experts. Access to state-of-the-art high-performance computing infrastructure is a great benefit here. Regular group meetings are a great platform to discuss innovative solutions. We also get great travel support to present our work at national/international conferences. The environment at RBCDSAI encourages us further to develop independent research lines. There are also many opportunities to get involved in collaborative projects from different institutes.”
