We extracted data points corresponding to Chennai and plotted the tile locations where mobility is observed at a given time of day. The following animations are separated by different stages of lockdown. The animations show the tile coordinates imposed on ward map of Chennai. Each dot shows presence of aggregated movement in that particular tile at a given time.
Apr 06 - Apr 14
Apr 15 - Apr 25
Apr 30 - Present
During all the stages of lockdown, movement in few areas are prominent than other areas. Particularly, south eastern wards like Mylapore, Mandaveli and Adyar and north western regions like Anna Nagar, Ambattur and Aminjikarai show constant mobility.
One important thing to observe is that movement in and around tiles containing Koyambedu Market and Bus Terminus show people are constantly moving in that region. And this is one of the major areas which is connected to places outside Chennai, focussing on contact tracing in this region might help in knowing about the infection spread.
Madhavaram, Purasawalkam and KK Nagar are some of the wards that show little to no movement throughout the data spectrum.
